The total solar eclipse of 2028 over Sydney

On 22 July 2028 the shadow of the Moon will cross Australia from the Kimberley in the north-west over New South Wales to Sydney, and go on to the south of New Zealand.

Over Sydney the Sun will be gone from 13:59:40 to 14:03:25, 29° up in the north-north-west, in the middle of a winter afternoon. Mercury will appear just below the black Sun, Mars lower down and Venus right on the horizon.

Between 1900 and 2050 it is the only total eclipse of the Sun over Sydney.
