The total solar eclipse of 2026 in Spain

On the evening of 12 August 2026 the Moon's shadow crossed Spain from the Atlantic coast to the Balearic Islands: the first total eclipse of the Sun seen from the Spanish mainland since 1905.

Over Burgos the Sun was gone from 20:28:25 to 20:30:10, 8° above the western horizon. Venus shone higher to the left; Jupiter and Mercury stood close to the horizon on the right.

In 1905 astronomers had come to Burgos from all over Europe for a total eclipse. Spain sees the next one within a year: on 2 August 2027, over Andalusia.
